This vehicle was based on the Irish
Jaunting cart, in which passengers sit back-to-back behind
the driver, on seats that are placed longitudinally on the
cart.
Between the seats is a lidded parcel compartment.
On this cab neither the passengers nor the driver had any
protection from the rain, it was totally open. This was
a common vehicle in Australian cities in the late 1800-1900s.
When not for hire the passenger footrest flips up and sits
over the seats, indicating 'not for hire'.

The main timber work is Matai,
demolition timber, while the passenger foot rest is Rewarewa.
The axle on this model is brass.
Seats are leather. All metal work is brass.
