I required 2 Chess Boards for Christmas presents.
The timber is two colors of Matai, laid on a parquet backing of Taiwanese Oak, to give weight and strength to the finished board.

The initial request was for a board to fit a particular Chess set, which we had brought back from China, so the boards are large.

The inset Matai pieces are deep enough for several years of refinishing.



Top side timber is Matai, with the reverse side being Taiwanese Oak.
Finish is Danish Oil.
