This board was a commission for a young couple who needed an oversize board; the playing squares are 60mm square.

They sent me the last photo showing the board & chess set in place.



The playing squares are 5mm thick Matai, from 100 year old floorboards. The strip banding the play area is 5mm Rimu from 50 year old Tongue & Groove wall board. The base is 4mm Taiwanese oak polished and varnished.

The bulk timber is Pinus Radiata.
