These are fun to
make; you end up with a nice piece with only a few hours
work! And you see results quickly as you work.
As the timber is
demolition timber, a lot of time is spent cleaning and milling
the planks ready for use. The timber I use is milled to
4 mm. Each face is mitred on all four sides, a mitred joint
giving a good clean finish to the piece.
This is an extension
of one of my basic Chinese patterns with variations..

Center cube is Salu-salu.
Middle Photo:
Bottom 3 Cubes are Matai,
Salu-salu, Matai.
The top 3 Cubes are all Matai.
Lower Photo's:
Left is Matai. This is a
slightly darker and grained piece than I usually see.
The Right Photo is Liquid-Amber.
