Each English county has its own distinctive farm waggon style, and within that county, different local waggon builders/blacksmiths can be traced by the style of building.

This waggon is set up as a harvest waggon with removable harvest ladders fore and hind, it is a good start up model for the novice as it is straight forward to make from scratch.

The model is complete with wheel skid and lock chains, skid pan, scotch roller and dog stick. The last two being to avoid rolling backwards on slopes and hang from the rear axle. Wheels are dished.

This waggon was my second model and set the style I have used since.

Rimu sapwood, milled from old 100 x 25mm planking. The wheels hubs are turned from a piece of an old Totara window sill, the rest of the wheels are Rimu from builders off cuts.

The waggon bed is New Zealand South Island Silver Beech which is paler than its North Island variety. All metal work is brass including the tyres. The model is finished with two coats of varnish.
