This is the final design of this style
of box; the pierced carving pattern is old Chinese.
Behind the pattern is New Zealand Paua.
All boxes are felt lined. The three large boxes have lift
off lids, while the two smaller boxes have slide-out lids.

Paua shellfish is a species of abalone (Haliotis
Iris), much used for jewellery and inlay work.
The timber is dark Demolition Matai,
using the black timber (after the tree is named) as a feature
timber.
The two smaller boxes with sliding lids are both Rimu,
with Mother of Pearl inserts.
The finish is Danish oil.
