Vis-a-Vis means face to face and
describes the seating arrangement in this vehicle. The vis-a-vis
is now a popular wedding carriage. The bride and/or groom
sits facing forward while their attendants sit facing them.
This model was made for my younger son
and daughter-in-law for the occasion of their wedding.
Again the vehicle is my design and
is not specific to a particular carriage but rather the
style. Due to the low under-floor in the front portion I
had to add lock chains to stop the wheels rubbing under
the body, a design fault, but not fatal.

Main body and storage box is Salu-Salu.
The under-body is off-cuts of sap-wood Rimu
veneer, while wheel felloes and spokes, and driver footboard
is heart Rimu from an old
door sill. Carvings are Birch wood.
The folding hood is leather as is the floor covering and
seats. The running lights were made from a piece of unknown
hard-wood and brass with coloured cut glass as the light
lens and are removable. All metal work is brass.
